René Lacoste and André Gillier founded the clothing house following the creation of the "model 1212", the polo shirt that the great Lacoste tennis player had begun to market in the late 1920s, years in which he dominated the tennis palmarès. Lacoste paid a lot of attention not only to tennis but also to other sports such as football and especially golf, as his wife was a regular practitioner of this sport. It is the first time that a logo appears visible on an item of clothing. In 1968, with the participation of Jean Patou, the brand brings to the market the first men's fragrance, "Lacoste". In the 1980s, with the opening of the first stores, Lacoste became an international clothing chain. Over the years Lacoste has become a well-rounded fashion house, with the introduction of footwear, perfumes and accessories.
