Stone Church was founded in 1675 and became a master shoemaker and leather goods, passing on his knowledge to his sons and grandchildren. Within a few years, Church's is transformed from a workshop in the company of reference for high quality shoes, both locally and for the most discerning shops in London and continental Europe. The Church's international expansion continues with new branches in America, Canada, Italy, Japan and Hong Kong. The visit of His Royal Highness Queen Elizabeth II in 1965 and the prestigious Queen's Award for export to officially seal the success of Church's. Now as in the past, it takes up to eight weeks and more than 250 manual operations to produce a pair of Church's shoes. All production is done in the factory by skilled craftsmen, from the selection of the leather, to packaging for sale.
